Examples of Spot-on Solutions *

Bubble trap

The unit went for successful field trials in a Paris hospital.
The Requirement A company was developing a peritoneal dialysis machine which required a bubble sensor.
The Spot-on Solution Water and air bubbles are both transparent so an optical sensor was designed to go on the bubble trap exploiting the lensing effect of a tube full of water.

This was just one detail in a fairly complex project: SoS actually designed much of the system, all the circuitry and specified the software.

The Requirement A company needed to distribute a standard frequency signal around its work benches.
The Spot-on Solution A high frequency amplifier providing 10 independent outputs at the required level.

Prototype thermal cycler

The picture shows the first bench prototype during construction.
The Requirement A group of biologists realized the requirement for a precision temperature cycler.
The Spot-on Solution An array of separately programmable temperature controls. The system was later expanded to 96 controls, miniaturized and put onto a monolithic ceramic substrate.

The Requirement A company wanted to route 16 audio signals to 16 separate public address amplifiers.
The Spot-on Solution This microprocessor-controlled routeing unit with plug-in audio boards.

Induction motor controls

A picture to delight the heart! - A row of production units tested and ready for use.
The Requirement A company wanted to vary the speed of an induction motor driving a blower.
The Spot-on Solution A self-optimizing single-to-three-phase converter. This drove the motor so well that a single stage was able to replace a five-stage blower.

The Requirement An entrepreneur was having problems with a third-party controller for a paper-feed used with a printing machine.
The Spot-on Solution The circuitry was revised and the software re-written with several new pragmatic corrections for speed variations.

Amplifier

The amplifiers are exceptionally high quality.
The Requirement A company was producing high-quality audio amplifiers that required a microcontroller.
The Spot-on Solution A fully-functional microcontroller-based system with a remote control interfacing to a PC.

The amplifiers use a unique circuit configuration - "the floating drive" - created by SoS too.
